Gomidas Conservatory

October 1996 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Gomidas Conservatory in Yerevan, Maestro Sayan was invited to Armenia and participated in a 10-day convocation of musical and celebratory events. In 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003 upon invitation of the Rector, Arsen Sayan headed the Conservatory’s final examination committee for graduating conductors during the May June examination period.

Arsen Sayan’s gratitude toward the Gomidas Conservatory and devotion to Armenian music were evidenced in 1996 with the publication of the “History of Armenian Music” under his patronage. Considering himself the fortunate beneficiary of a half century of concerts glorifying the music of Armenian composers, from Aleppo to Philadelphia and Washington, he was able to express his boundless appreciation through assistance in the publication of a valuable, much needed textbook that will benefit the Gomidas Conservatory and the special education of students in musical academies in general.

Arsen Sayan Scholarship Fund

In 1997, KNAR-ANI concerts in Washington and Philadelphia were dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Gomidas Conservatory. Proceeds from these concerts were appropriated to the establishment of a student Scholarship fund at the Conservatory. He was instrumental in establishing the Arsen Sayan Scholarship Fund at the Conservatory. Proceeds from future concerts were earmarked to this scholarship. The interest from this endowment provides continuing annual financial assistance for twenty students enrolled in various departments of the Gomidas Conservatory.
